The Value of DJMM
I have been doing some thinking the past few weeks about the future direction for DJMM in 2010. I have come up with quite a few ideas that I would like to implement as well as some of the suggestions that have been made by DJMM members. And the explosive growth of our tight-nit family has far exceeded all of my expectations. However…
That’s not to say that there is no room for improvement – not by any stretch of the imagination. Yet, I have been simply amazed by the feedback I have been receiving from members and those who have taken a test drive. The glowing comments tells me that I have struck a chord that resonates with some of the best and brightest within the Mobile DJ industry. That got me really thinking about the value of DJMM.
I firmly believe that the biggest part of DJMM’s value is based upon the exceptional people who are the members; as more professionals join, the value of DJMM increases exponentially. First and foremost, DJMM is about DJs helping each other in a positive learning environment. I also believe that DJMM offers tremendous value in that for a fraction of the costs associated with attending just one trade show conference per year, members receive 80% of the benefits! In other words, for about 20% of the costs of going to just one conference a year like Mobile Beat Las Vegas or DJ Times in Atlantic City, DJMM members get almost all of the same experience.
Here’s the price comparison that I have been working on:
-
Average Show ticket = $250.00
-
Airline Tickets = $250.00
-
Hotel = $300.00
-
Meals & Drinks = $200.00
The total comes to roughly $1,000.00 (a conservative number) or so it would seem as that is what I usually average anyway. Of course that’s not taking into account other incidental expenses for parking at the airport, gas, taxi or car rental fees, toiletries (especially if you are also like me and the damn airport security scams on my toothpaste every time), laundry and/or dry cleaning expenses and so on. So the total will probably be somewhere around $1,200 – $1,500, which has been the actual range for me.
Granted you can cut some of those expenses out or at least reduce them by sharing a room, carpooling, etc. But even so, most people are still spending somewhere around at least $1,000.00 per convention.
On the other hand, DJMM costs just $199.00 per year – that’s it! That’s less than what one conference ticket will cost you. Yet you get almost all of the benefits of going to conference all year long. As one member stated so eloquently, “it’s a no-brainer!”
Here is what you get with a DJMM membership:
-
A minimum of 35 – 40 hours of networking per year.
-
At least 20 free special training sessions hours per year.
-
Access to a secure, members-only forum and private groups forums 24/7.
-
10% discount on all educational materials from the DJMM store.
-
Equal time for getting feedback from your group.
-
Feedback is in real time!
-
A FREE copy of my forthcoming book “The Completely Clueless Wedding Vendor’s Guide to Websites, Web Design and Marketing on the World Wide Web”
-
And other perks and benefits as they become available…
Where else are you going to find such a great deal?! With the exception of eyeball-to-eyeball time and pressing flesh, you get just as much if not more benefits with a DJMM membership as you do from attending just one trade show per year. Granted we do not yet offer great deals on equipment like you find at the trade shows (yet!), but unlike the trade shows, you get equal time with the group as well as the opportunity to get some one-on-one time with our featured presenters!
Good luck getting that at Mobile Beat or DJ Times!
And with a shaky economy the way it is, a DJMM membership is very easy on an already strapped wallet. So again, that is for less than the average wage for an hour of overtime at a party, DJMM members get 80% of the benefits of attending a trade show all year long, for less than 20% of the costs to attend just one of these shows!
It really is a “no-brainer!”
