DJ Power is quite possibly the most feature-rich and complex software solution that I have ever had a chance to play with. It is also one of the original programs that were available to DJs back in the 1990s and still going strong today. But one of the things that really sets DJ Power apart from the competition is the fact that they also build systems specifically to run their software. A few other have attempted the same, but only a handful have been as remotely successful. Hands down, it is one of the most versatile software packages on the market today that has most of the features and capabilities that any mobile or club DJ could ever need. (more…)

Unfortunately, for the first full review of a software package listed in the Mobile Beat 2009 Gear Guide, there isn’t a lot of information available on it. Even going directly to the American Audio website, there is precious little information there as well. So the first review is going to be more like an overview since I cannot find more information about it, much less know of any friends in the business that are using it.
However, here is what I have found out about this package… (more…)

Well 2008 has definitely been an interesting year without doubt! And I use the term interesting with a modicum of sarcasm. Anyway, this holiday season has been quite busy so I have not had a lot of time to write many articles during the month of December. However, starting next year – which just so happens to be a few hours away – I have plans to write quite a few more product reviews, more articles and even hooking up with the DJ Idea Sharing Podcast Network crew in order to get some more podcasts recorded.
In addition to all that, I also announced a few weeks ago that I am working on putting together a 2009 Technology Tour starting with my trip to Mobile Beat Las Vegas in February – as more speaking dates become confirmed I will post them here. If you are interested in having me make a presentation to your group, please use the Contact Me page.
Here’s to a prosperous 2009!

Audio Grabber is one of the more popular programs available for ripping music and karaoke, especially among Mobile DJs. This is even more so the case since Audio Grabber has been freeware since February 9, 2004, meaning that you can easily visit the website and download the required software and codecs, all for free! But one of the few features that makes this program appealing over more stable and streamlined programs is the fact that it can also rip your karaoke CD+Gs digitally. Short-comings aside, Audio Grabber as one of the first utilities for ripping and encoding MP3s, has garnered an impressive list of awards from a variety of software sharing/download sites. (more…)

CDex is the quintessential software utility for converting your a CD collection into any number of computer file formats – the main two being either WAV or MP3. This program is lean, it’s fast and it is very accurate producing flawless rips almost every single time. That means adding tunes to your growing computer music library tends to be a lot less time-consuming than the other options out there. And with it being an open-source project, the price is right too, which will make many a DJ giddy - it’s a free download! (more…)

by SoftJock & ProDJpc
The Remote Request Station & Server software was developed in partnership with ProDJpc and SoftJock Audio. The original version was first released for public consumption in February 2006, when ProDJpc presented the software at the Mobile Beat Las Vegas ’06 show. The new software package was also displayed at the Mobile Beat Summer Expo in Cromwell, CT later that same year and was a popular demo handout for DJs from all over the United States and Canada. The current version of the software programs are both 1.0. (more…)
